Aquamarine--re-defined !
If you connect the color aquamarine with either jewelry or a prom dress gone horribly bad, you should reconsider your options! This beauty here is made from a white base dress with sheer aqua overlay for both skirt and bodice and features stylized beaded flowers as a trim. The sleeve cuffs, skirtband and sash are from a light aqua colored satin and the sash wraps around the waist to secure itself via button on the front. This design would make an excellent wedding gown, either in all white or in a pastel color. To re-create this dress in fabrics and colors of your choice, my fee is $275.

Kathy's wedding dress...
Kathy will marry in October 2003 and really loves the original. Aqua is not her favorite color, though, so she opted to have it done in her favorite color, brown. I ironed out a few minor structural flaws and am really pleased with the result.

Renee's Birthday dress.....
Renee will celebrate her 50th Birthday the end of January and had me re-creating this gown once more so she could celebrate in style with an Edwardian themed Mystery dinner party. I wish I could be there to see her celebrate! All the Best for your Birthday, Renee, and loads of presents!
;-)

I had no more of the aqua colored satin, so I made a self fabric sash that doesn't tie over in the back, to avoid bulk, but is caught in the zipper instead. I added beads to the sleeve ends to make up for the missing satin. I also left off the second skirt tier, Renee is pretty short and I didn't want the dress with it's 3 layers to make her appear even shorter. Renee also wanted a train, a detail she really loves.
