Kristine's Edwardian Formal for the US Submarine  Ball...
Black is always hard to photograph, especially when you have to do it indoors due to bad weather. After Kris received her dress she wrote me in an e-mail that these pictures don't do the dress justice, it is 10 times better in real life. Kristine is a whopping 6 feet tall, so the dress actually is as long as you see it here, the pics are not distorted. We used a red peach skin fabric in a supple red shade under a black embroidered chiffon with a floral motif. Kris combined 3 original vintage dresses found on the net into her design using what I would call awesome software. The sleeves are open, missing about 2 inches from the center down and the sides are connected via beads. After making the dress I set out to bead it, which took about a week. Kris' husband is in the US Navy and she will wear this for the Navy Submarine ball the end of March. Ships Ahoy! Well, diving is more like it, I guess....

The skirt has a slight sweep in the back and a general A-line shape.
Kris likes to bead and she added some more bead detail to the sleeves after getting the dress. She was amazed with the fit of it. Well, she looks splendid, that's all I can say.
